The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada, also known as MOCA, is a museum and art gallery located in Toronto, Ontario. It was formerly known as the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art or MOCCA. The museum is an independent entity and is registered as a charitable organization. This means that it operates independently and relies on donations and funding to support its operations and exhibitions.
In 2016, the museum underwent a name change and became known as the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada, or MOCA. Two years later, in September 2018, MOCA relocated to a larger facility in the Lower Junction district. This facility, a renovated former factory, spans 55,000 square feet. The move and renovation were made possible through funding from the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund.

Museum of Contemporary Art has 1 rating.
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto offers visitors an engaging experience with modern and contemporary art. Located in a renovated industrial building, the museum's spacious galleries provide an excellent backdrop for its diverse exhibitions. Many visitors appreciate the thought-provoking and sometimes challenging artworks on display, which often push the boundaries of traditional art forms. The museum's commitment to showcasing both local and international artists is widely praised.
Visitors generally find the staff knowledgeable and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. The museum's efforts to be accessible and inclusive are also noted positively. Many enjoy the interactive elements and educational programs offered, which help in understanding and appreciating contemporary art.
However, some visitors mention that the museum's collection is not as extensive as they expected, and the content can be hit-or-miss depending on personal tastes and the current exhibitions. A few reviewers find some installations too abstract or difficult to interpret. The museum's location, while interesting, is considered slightly out of the way by some visitors.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Museum of Contemporary Art is generally well-received for its contribution to Toronto's art scene, its focus on emerging artists, and its role in fostering dialogue about contemporary issues through art. The museum's cafe and gift shop also receive positive mentions, adding to the overall experience.
