History of the Museum

The Museum "Leben am Meer" was established by the Esens local history association in 1980 in a room of the former school building. In 1986, the city of Esens bought the old Peldemühle, renovated it thoroughly, and handed over the tower to the local history association for use as a museum. This history adds a layer of historical significance to the museum itself.
