The Waldemarturm, located on the Amtsberg in Dannenberg (Elbe), is a former keep and the only remaining part of a medieval castle and the later Dannenberg Castle. This historical structure offers a glimpse into the past and provides a unique perspective on the region's history.
Since 1955, the Waldemarturm has been home to the local history museum of the city of Dannenberg, now known as the Museum im Waldemarturm Dannenberg. The tower underwent its last renovation in 2000, which included a modern interior, for the museum exhibition “Flood”.
The Museum im Waldemarturm Dannenberg features historical permanent exhibitions, as well as thematic displays such as “The Slavs in Wendland” and “100 Days in Rubber Boots”, which focuses on the flood in the Elbtalaue. The museum also hosts changing art exhibitions and offers educational programs, enriching its offerings each year.
