The Museum für Papier- und Buchkunst, or the Museum of Paper and Book Art, is situated in the Schlössle in Oberlenningen, a part of the Lenningen municipality in the Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg. The museum was established in 1992 by the Scheufelen paper factory and is located on the second floor of the building.
The museum provides a concise introduction to the art of papermaking, with a special emphasis on the production of handmade papers from various parts of the world. The paper art department of the museum focuses not just on the use of paper as a writing surface, but explores the myriad possibilities of what can be achieved with paper.
The Museum für Papier- und Buchkunst also houses a department dedicated to book culture. This section showcases the smallest book in the world and a variety of hand press prints. The museum places a significant emphasis on modern book art, where artists are less concerned with readability and more focused on transforming books into objects or sculptures.
