The Museum Erding, located in Erding, is a local history museum that was established in 1856 by Anton Bachmair, a shoemaker. With over 160 years of collection history, it is one of the oldest municipal museums in Bavaria. The museum's collection began with musician uniforms, weapons, and other items.
The Museum Erding's collection is vast, comprising over 50,000 objects. Among these is the Oberding bar hoard, a significant archaeological find. The museum's collection provides a comprehensive overview of the region's history and culture.
In 2010, a new building was added to the Museum Erding, dedicated to two significant crafts of Erding: bell casting and tanning. This modern addition provides a contrast to the historical building and offers visitors an insight into these traditional crafts.
