The Museu do Canteiro is situated in the village of Alcains, within the Municipality and District of Castelo Branco. The museum is housed in the Alcains Cultural Center, a building with a rich history, formerly known as Solar dos Goulões and later renamed Solar Ulisses Pardal.
Permanent Exhibition at the Museu do Canteiro
The Museu do Canteiro was inaugurated in January 2005. Its permanent exhibition is centered around the theme of stone and the various techniques and tools used to work with this material. The museum places a special emphasis on granite, a type of rock that is deeply intertwined with the socio-economic history of Alcains and its surrounding municipality. The exhibition is a tribute to the labor of the stonemason.
