The Museo Vivencial Ferrocarril 279, located in the city of Cuautla, Morelos, is a significant historical site that was inaugurated in September 1995. The museum is situated in the former Cuautla Railway Station, which has a rich history dating back to the 17th century.
The museum gets its name from the famous Ferrocarril 279, a narrow-gauge steam engine built by the Baldwing Locomotive Works of Philadelphia for the National Railways of Mexico. This steam engine, which was incorporated into the Interoceanic Railway of Mexico-Veracruz, is the only one of its kind in Mexico.
Apart from its extensive photographic collection, the Museo Vivencial Ferrocarril 279 offers a variety of services to its visitors. These include conferences, workshops for children and young people, and art exhibitions. These activities provide an enriching experience for visitors of all ages.
