The Orto Botanico dell'Università di Roma "La Sapienza", also Orto Botanico di Roma, is a botanical garden that was created in 1883 as the successor to the Renaissance papal botanical gardens. It is located on the hillside of Gianicolo Hill, overlooking the 17th-century Palazzo Corsini, where Queen Christina of Sweden lived from 1659 to 1689. Part of the current Botanical Garden was once the private garden of the Palazzo Corsini. Today, the garden has more than 3,000 plant species, including a Japanese garden, a significant collection of bamboo plants, an aroma garden and a section of over 300 medicinal plants.

The Museo Orto Botanico, also known as the Botanical Garden of Rome, offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Located in the heart of Rome, this historic garden spans 12 hectares and houses over 3,000 plant species. Visitors often appreciate the well-maintained grounds, diverse plant collections, and the opportunity to learn about botany and biodiversity. The Japanese garden and the bamboo grove are frequently mentioned as highlights. While some reviewers note that signage could be improved for better plant identification, most find the experience educational and relaxing. The garden's greenhouse complex, featuring exotic and tropical plants, is another point of interest. Some visitors mention that the garden might not be as visually impressive in winter months, but it remains a valuable resource for plant enthusiasts and those seeking a quiet space in Rome.
