The National Museum of Sea Archaeology is situated in the picturesque city of Caorle, within the metropolitan area of Venice. This museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich maritime history of the region, with a focus on archaeological findings from the sea.

Underwater Archaeological Discoveries

The museum was founded in response to significant underwater archaeological discoveries in the region. These include the wreck of an ancient Roman ship, known as "Caorle 1", and the wreck of the Franco-Italian brig "Mercurio". These findings provide a fascinating insight into the maritime history of the region.

Museum Sections and Exhibits

The museum is divided into two sections. The first part, TERREDACQUE, showcases the most significant archaeological findings from Caorle and nearby sites, dating from the late Bronze Age to modern times. The ground floor is dedicated to the story of the Mercurio, a two-masted warship built during the Napoleonic era. This division allows visitors to explore different aspects of the region's maritime history.
