The Italian Museum of Folklore Imagery, located in San Michele di Piazza al Serchio, is a cultural institution dedicated to the collection and study of various elements of folklore. These include fairy tales, legends, children's scarecrows, and beliefs about animals, plants, waters, rocks, atmospheric phenomena, and farming practices. The museum's collection represents centuries of geographical territories as seen by the populations that inhabited them.
The museum is home to a substantial archive of texts, including unpublished research and theses, as well as multimedia materials such as audio and video recordings. These materials contain thousands of stories, including fairy tales, myths, legends, beliefs, superstitions, rituals, and folk songs. These stories were collected from live witnesses and informants by Alberto Borghini, through the work of his students and the members of the Association "La Giubba".
