The Museo Histórico de Yerbas Buenas is situated in the commune of Yerbas Buenas, in the Province of Linares, within the Seventh region of Maule, Chile. This location is known for its colonial-style architecture, which is a significant tourist attraction in the area, along with the museum itself.
The museum is housed in a building known as the Casa del Brigadier Pareja, which has been declared a historical monument. This building is significant as it was the lodging place of the commander of the royalist army, Brigadier Antonio Pareja, on the night of April 26, 1813, when the patriots attacked the Spaniards in the event known as the Surprise of Yerbas Buenas.
The Museo Histórico de Yerbas Buenas boasts a collection of approximately 360 pieces. The majority of these items have been donated by the community of Yerbas Buenas. The collection includes a variety of historical items, such as weapons, crafts, watercolors, archaeological artifacts, photographs, religious images, and furniture.
