The Museo civico delle forze armate 1914 - 1945 is a museum situated in Montecchio Maggiore, in the province of Vicenza. It is part of the Musei Altovicentino network, a group of museums in the region. Founded in 2003, the museum is managed by the Associazione Cultori della Storia delle Forze Armate in collaboration with the Municipality of Montecchio Maggiore.
The museum houses thousands of relics, almost entirely related to the two World Wars. These include a variety of items such as weapons, uniforms, vehicles, and other military equipment. Some of the most notable exhibits include a M15/42 tank, a L3/35 fast tank, a Pavesi & Tolotti type B tractor, and a Fiat 18 BL truck.
One of the unique exhibits of the museum is a working 1:1 scale reconstruction of the first Italian tank in history, the Fiat 2000. This tank was built in 1917 and 1918, and only two examples were ever made, both of which are now lost. The reconstruction of the Fiat 2000 began in 2018 and can be seen in the museum's vehicle park.

Museo delle Forze Armate 1914-1945 has 1 rating.
The Museo delle Forze Armate 1914-1945 in Montecchio Maggiore, Italy, offers visitors a comprehensive look at Italian military history during the two World Wars. The museum houses an extensive collection of military artifacts, including weapons, uniforms, and vehicles from the period. Many visitors appreciate the well-organized exhibits and the depth of information provided, which helps to contextualize the events of both wars.
The museum's strengths lie in its detailed displays and the care taken in preserving and presenting historical items. Visitors often comment on the impressive array of military equipment, particularly the tanks and artillery pieces on display. The museum also receives praise for its efforts to present a balanced view of the conflicts, focusing on the human aspects of war rather than glorifying it.
However, some visitors note that the museum could benefit from more English translations, as many descriptions are primarily in Italian. This can be a drawback for international tourists who may miss out on some of the detailed information. Additionally, while the museum is generally well-maintained, a few reviewers mention that some areas could use updating or improved lighting to enhance the overall experience.
Despite these minor issues, the Museo delle Forze Armate 1914-1945 is generally regarded as a valuable educational resource. The museum's location in a historic villa adds to its charm, though some visitors mention that it can be a bit challenging to find without proper directions.
Overall, the museum offers a worthwhile experience for those interested in military history or looking to gain a deeper understanding of Italy's role in the World Wars. Its comprehensive collection and thoughtful presentation make it a notable attraction in the Montecchio Maggiore area.
