The Museo del Agua, also known as the Steam Machine Museum, is situated in the town of Aguas Corrientes, Canelones, Uruguay. It is housed in the Old Aguas Corrientes Power Plant, a site of historical significance. The museum was inaugurated in 2006 and is managed by the Canarian Community of the Municipal Intendancy of Canelones and is dependent on the State Sanitary Works (OSE).
The Museo del Agua houses a room dedicated to objects and machinery related to water purification. It also features a machine room with a large central nave. The museum offers stable exhibits that focus on water processing as a material resource and capital of humanity. These exhibits aim to educate the public about this vital resource and the history of the Old Aguas Corrientes Power Plant.
On Heritage Day in Uruguay, the State Sanitary Works organizes guided tours to the Museo del Agua. Buses depart from the central building at two times, 10:30 and 14:00, providing visitors with a convenient way to explore the museum and learn about its historical significance.
