The Jean-Mermoz Museum is a cultural institution located in the town of Aubenton, in the Aisne region of France. The museum is dedicated to the life and career of the legendary French aviator, Jean Mermoz, who was born in Aubenton. Known as the 'Archangel', Mermoz is a significant figure in the history of aviation, particularly for his contributions to Aéropostale, the French airmail service.
The Jean-Mermoz Museum is housed in the former Colin Hotel, a building with a rich history. The hotel was rebuilt in the 17th century on the site of a medieval dwelling, following the Spanish devastations of 1648 and 1650. The building's facades were restored in the 19th century, adding to its historical charm. The hotel was once owned by Denis Colin, a local mill owner, before it became municipal property and was transformed into the museum.
