The Musée de la céramique et de l’ivoire de Commercy is a cultural history museum situated in the town of Commercy, in the French department of Meuse. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural history of the region through its diverse collections.
The museum was established in 1948 and underwent a significant transformation in 1997 when it was relocated to a former bathhouse. This Art Deco building, previously owned by the Commercy Savings Bank, adds an architectural charm to the museum experience.
The museum's collections are a testament to the artistic craftsmanship of the past, featuring 17th and 18th century ivory objects, as well as 18th and 19th century faience and porcelain. Notably, the museum is home to the second largest collection of ivory in France, making it a significant destination for art and history enthusiasts.
