The Musée Bonnat in Bayonne, France, is a notable art museum that offers visitors a rich collection of European paintings and drawings. Named after the renowned French painter Léon Bonnat, the museum houses an impressive array of works from various periods, with a particular strength in Old Masters.

Visitors appreciate the museum's diverse collection, which includes pieces by famous artists such as Goya, Ingres, and Degas. The museum's drawing collection is particularly praised, with many considering it one of the finest in France outside of Paris. The quality and range of artworks on display provide an engaging experience for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

The museum is housed in a beautiful 19th-century building, which adds to its charm and ambiance. However, some visitors note that the space can feel somewhat cramped, and the lighting in certain areas could be improved to better showcase the artworks.

While the museum offers an audio guide, some visitors have mentioned that more comprehensive information in English would enhance the experience for international tourists. Despite this, many find the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable.

The Musée Bonnat is generally considered a cultural highlight of Bayonne, offering a high-quality art experience in a smaller, more intimate setting compared to larger metropolitan museums. Its location in the historic part of Bayonne also allows visitors to combine their museum visit with exploring the charming surroundings of the city.
