The Mühlenhof Breckerfeld is a historical ensemble of buildings located in Breckerfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. This unique collection includes a relocated post mill, a baking storage, a grain storage, a bee house, a bakery, a farmhouse, and a coffee shop with a farm shop. Open-Air Museum
Established in 1996, the Mühlenhof Breckerfeld is not just a collection of historical buildings, but also a private, freely accessible open-air museum. Located on the northern edge of Breckerfeld, the museum showcases several relocated historical buildings that depict rural life in the past. This unique collection provides a fascinating insight into the region's history and culture.
Main Attractions
The main attraction of the Mühlenhof Breckerfeld is the post mill, which was originally built in 1846 in the Mark Brandenburg. In addition to the mill, visitors can also explore a grain storage from the Soest area, a bee house from Hünningen, and a three-stand house with a baking oven from Heiden. Each of these structures has been carefully preserved and relocated to the museum, offering a unique insight into the region's agricultural history.
Farmhouse Offerings
Within the farmhouse at Mühlenhof Breckerfeld, the owner operates a bakery and a sales room where visitors can purchase self-produced baked goods, cheese, meat, and sausage products. There is also a coffee shop with a restaurant on site. These spaces are furnished with original rural furnishings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, adding to the authentic historical atmosphere of the museum.
