The Mountain Homeplace is a unique living history museum situated within the scenic Paintsville Lake State Park in Staffordsville, Kentucky. This museum offers a glimpse into the mid-nineteenth-century farming community, providing an immersive experience for visitors.

Re-creation of a Mid-Nineteenth-Century Farming Community

The museum is a faithful re-creation of a mid-nineteenth-century farming community. It includes a blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse, a church, a cabin, and a barn with farm grounds. These structures provide a tangible connection to the past, allowing visitors to explore and understand the lifestyle of the period.

Interactive Demonstrations of Old Skills and Crafts

At the Mountain Homeplace, tour guides and park workers dressed in traditional period attire demonstrate old skills and crafts. These include forging horseshoes, quilting, and tending to farm animals.
