The Metlar House, also known as the Knapp House, the Bodine House, or the Metlar–Bodine House, is a historic house that has been converted into a museum. It is located along River Road in Piscataway, New Jersey. This museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of the area and the people who lived there.
Over the past decade, the museum has undergone major renovations and as of Summer 2014, it has reopened to the public. Visitors can now enjoy the newly renovated spaces and exhibits that the museum has to offer.
The Metlar–Bodine House launched a campaign to raise funds for a new educational wing with a Madeira wine tasting event called "Red, White, and Boom" on July 6, 2014. This new wing is intended to house the historically significant Ross Hall Wall.
In the early 1700s, Raritan Landing in New Jersey was home to 70 houses owned by Dutch merchants. One of these merchants, Peter Bodine, built a two-story house near the Raritan River in 1728. This house is now known as the Metlar-Bodine House and serves as a museum.
