Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Source

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, located in the Brisbane suburb of Fig Tree Pocket in Queensland, Australia, is an 18-hectare sanctuary dedicated to koalas. Established in 1927, it holds the distinction of being the oldest and largest sanctuary of its kind in the world.

Animal Interaction at the Sanctuary

The sanctuary is home to approximately 80 species of Australian animals, providing a diverse wildlife experience. Visitors have the unique opportunity to hold koalas, albeit for a fee. To ensure the well-being of the koalas, strict regulations are in place limiting each koala to be held for no more than thirty minutes each day.

Kangaroo Interaction at the Sanctuary

In addition to koalas, the sanctuary also offers visitors the chance to interact with free-roaming kangaroos in a 5-acre reserve. This reserve is home to more than 130 kangaroos, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to feed and pet these animals.
