The Living Museum of Memory Candanga is housed in the facilities of the now-defunct Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira Hospital (HJKO), the first hospital built in the new Federal District. The museum is conveniently located on the banks of the BR-040, near Núcleo Bandeirante, formerly known as the Free City, and Candangolândia, the former headquarters of Novacap. This location provides easy access for visitors and offers a glimpse into the history of the region.
The Living Museum of Memory Candanga is open to the public for free from Monday to Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. However, it's important to note that the workshop rooms within the museum are not always open. These rooms are opened and closed at the discretion of the museum staff, so there may be times when some of these rooms are not available for visitation.
The Living Museum of Memory Candanga also features a model of the Pilot Plan of Brasília, last updated in March 2006. The museum's collection includes works from photographer Mário Fontenelle, a collection of sculptures by Seu Pedro titled 'The Cerrado of Pau de Pedro', and a photographic exhibition titled 'Candangos Pioneers'. The museum also hosts the most recent exhibition, 'The Importance of Women in the Construction of the New Capital'. In addition to these, the museum has rooms for temporary exhibitions, an auditorium, a library, and a technical reserve.
