Little Rock Central High School (LRCHS) is a secondary school located in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. It is situated at the intersection of Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive and Park Street. The school is known for being the site of a struggle for access to education for the Little Rock Nine during the African American civil rights movement.

The Little Rock Nine and the Civil Rights Movement

In 1957, nine African American students, known as the "Little Rock Nine", were denied entry to the school, despite the Brown v. Board of Education (1954) ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States ordering racial integration in public schools. This event, followed worldwide, was the first real test of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, making Arkansas a prime example of massive resistance to desegregation following the ruling.
