The Lillooet Museum is conveniently located on Main Street in Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada. It is situated across from the "Mile '0'" cairn, which marks the beginning of the Old Cariboo Road. This location makes it easily accessible for tourists and provides a starting point for exploring the historical Old Cariboo Road.
The Lillooet Museum is housed in the former Anglican Church, St. Mary's the Virgin. This church was built in 1961, but it incorporates materials from the original St. Mary's Church, which was constructed in 1860. This gives the museum a unique historical charm and provides a glimpse into the architectural history of the region.
The Lillooet Museum houses a variety of artifacts that provide insight into the region's history. These include artifacts from the Fraser Gold Rush and other gold rushes in the vicinity, belongings and household items from the region's families, the second largest mounted elk head trophy ever registered in British Columbia, and First Nations artifacts of the St'at'imc, also known as the Lillooet people.
