L'Envol des Pionniers is a museum located in the Montaudran district of Toulouse. It traces the great adventure of the Aéropostale, a pioneering airmail company, and contributes to the memory of aeronautics in the city. The museum was inaugurated on December 22, 2018, almost 100 years to the day after the inaugural flight of the first major civil flight to Barcelona.
The museum is conveniently located just opposite the Rangueil scientific complex, home to the ENAC, the largest European aeronautical university, and SUPAERO, the oldest aeronautical school in the world. This location not only makes it easily accessible, but also places it in the heart of Toulouse's aeronautical history and education.
One of the highlights of the museum is a replica of the Salmson 2A2, the aircraft that made the first flight of the Latécoère lines to Barcelona. This replica was built by the Ailes Anciennes Toulouse in partnership with the region's high schools. It's a tangible piece of history that brings the story of early airmail to life.
