Kumu Art Museum is the largest exhibition space in Tallinn, housed in a building designed by the Finnish architect Pekka Vapaavuori. The museum shows Estonian art history from the 18th century to present day. Division of the Kumu Art Museum includes: classical Estonian art from the 18th century until the end of the Second World War, art made in Estonia during the Soviet occupation including socialist realists and non-conformists, art made after the independence of Estonia, and a space for temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. In 2008, the Kumu Art Museum received the European Museum of the Year Award from the European Museum Forum.
