Kraftwerk Wienerbruck and its collection

Kraftwerk Wienerbruck
Source

The Kraftwerk Wienerbruck is a significant historical site, being the oldest power plant in Lower Austria. Located in the scenic town of Annaberg, it began operations in 1910, primarily to supply power to the Mariazell Railway. The power plant is still operational and is managed by EVN, a major Austrian energy provider.

Visiting the Kraftwerk Wienerbruck

Since the Lower Austrian State Exhibition in 2015, the Kraftwerk Wienerbruck has opened its doors to the public during the hiking season. Visitors can explore the gallery in the machine hall, where a historical marble switchboard has been reinstalled as a museum piece. This offers a unique insight into the history and operation of the power plant.
