Jack London's Cottage, also known as Jack London's Ranch, Beauty Ranch, or Jack London State Historic Park, is a significant historical site located in Glen Ellen, California. This 19th-century wooden cottage is situated on a large agricultural estate, approximately 100 km north of San Francisco. The famous American writer and adventurer Jack London and his wife Charmian London lived here from 1911 until their deaths in 1916 and 1955 respectively. The estate is now a museum dedicated to their memory and literary works.
Following the death of Charmian London in 1955, the estate was bequeathed by her heirs to the state of California. It was then inaugurated as a state historic park and museum, known as Jack London State Historic Park, on September 24, 1960. The park is dedicated to preserving the memory and works of Jack London and his wife.
The museum at Jack London State Historic Park, managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, offers visitors a glimpse into the lives of Jack and Charmian London. It displays their living spaces, estate, furnishings, objects, books, manuscripts, travel souvenirs, documents, photos, paintings, gramophone, Remington typewriter, and other personal items.
