Mussolini rented Villa Torlonia from the family for one lira a year to use as his state residence from the 1920s onwards. Nowadays it is a museum: Musei di Villa Torlonia. The museum in the villa contains a small collection of pieces of statuary from the Torlonia collection, as well as pieces of the Villa’s furniture. The Casina delle Civette can be visited as part of the museum.

Il Casino Nobile - Musei di Villa Torlonia has 1 rating.
Il Casino Nobile, part of the Musei di Villa Torlonia complex in Rome, offers visitors a glimpse into 19th-century aristocratic life. The museum is housed in a beautifully restored neoclassical building, which was once the main residence of the Torlonia family. The interior features impressive frescoes, decorative arts, and period furnishings that showcase the opulence of Roman nobility.
Visitors appreciate the well-preserved architecture and the opportunity to explore a lesser-known historical site in Rome. The museum's collections, including sculptures, paintings, and decorative objects, provide insight into the tastes and lifestyle of the era. Many find the audio guide helpful in understanding the context and significance of the exhibits.
However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small compared to Rome's more famous attractions. While this can be seen as an advantage for those seeking a less crowded experience, others feel it may not offer enough content for the admission price. Additionally, a few reviewers mention that some areas of the museum could benefit from better lighting and more detailed information panels in multiple languages.
Overall, Il Casino Nobile is considered a good addition to a Rome itinerary for those interested in 19th-century art and architecture, especially if they've already seen the city's major attractions. Its peaceful setting in Villa Torlonia park adds to its appeal, offering a pleasant escape from the busier tourist areas.
