The Holzknechtmuseum, located in Laubau, south of Ruhpolding, was inaugurated in 1988. It provides a comprehensive documentation of the evolution of forestry work, starting from the saline era up to the present day. This museum offers a unique opportunity to understand the historical context and progression of forestry work over the centuries.
The Holzknechtmuseum features an attached open-air area of approximately 30,000 square meters. This area houses numerous transferred and rebuilt forestry huts from the area of the former Traunstein saline. Visitors can also learn about various methods of wood transport and processing in this open-air area, providing a hands-on experience of historical forestry practices.
