Managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Holyoke Heritage State Park features a visitors center. This center houses exhibits about paper manufacturing and Holyoke's industrial and cultural past. These exhibits provide a deep insight into the city's history and its industrial evolution, making it an informative stop for visitors.
In addition to its historical and natural attractions, Holyoke Heritage State Park also houses the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round (PTC #80), the Children's Museum at Holyoke, and the Volleyball Hall of Fame. These attractions add a fun and educational element to the park, making it a great destination for families and sports enthusiasts alike.
Holyoke Heritage State Park also features its own rail line, a remnant of the former Holyoke & Westfield Railroad, and one of four tourist railroads in the Commonwealth. Today, the Pioneer Valley Railroad provides annual fall foliage passenger rides from the park to Westfield, as well as an annual Santa Train. These unique experiences offer visitors a chance to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area in a unique and exciting way.
