The Heinrich-Neuy-Bauhaus-Museum is situated in Borghorst, a part of the city of Steinfurt. The museum is dedicated to the works and objects of the Bauhaus artist Heinrich Neuy. In addition to this, it also hosts changing exhibitions that revolve around the themes of the Bauhaus period.
The museum was inaugurated in June 2011, marking the 100th birthday of its namesake, Heinrich Neuy. Neuy was a resident of the Steinfurt district of Borghorst from 1932 until his death in 2003, where he lived and created his works.
The museum is located in the former convent house of the Borghorst ladies' convent at Kirchplatz 5 in Steinfurt. The permanent collection includes a selection of Heinrich Neuy's paintings, his drawing table, various pieces of furniture and utensils, as well as some of his carpentry work.
The museum also features a shop and a café. During the summer months, the café offers seating on a garden terrace under the shade of a hundred-year-old copper beech tree.
Apart from the permanent exhibits from the estate of Heinrich Neuy, the museum also hosts changing exhibitions. These exhibitions feature further works of Neuy as well as various topics related to the Bauhaus. Both pictorial works and design products are included in these exhibitions.
