The Heinrich Heine Institute is an institute for the study and presentation of the life and work of the German-Jewish poet, journalist, essayist, and literary critic Heinrich Heine, located in Düsseldorf. The permanent exhibition "Romance and Revolution" deals with the life, work and time of Heinrich Heine. The permanent exhibition is divided into nine rooms: Family (before 1797), Beginnings (1797-1819), Departure (1819-1831), Exile (1831-1848), Matrazengruft (1848-1856), Contemporaries, Posterity, a literature lab, and a listening and reading area.
