The 2ft heritage narrow-gauge railway is adjacent to Kempton Steam Museum and offers rides to the public from March to November every Sunday (and some Saturdays). The Museum houses the largest fully operational triple-expansion steam engine in the world. and is 'in steam' only seven weekends a year, when the railway is also open. Dating back to 1915, the railway was used to carry coal from wharves on the River Thames in London to the Great Engine House (now Kempton Steam Museum) to fire the furnaces to drive the engines that pumped clean drinking water to London in the early 20th century.
