The Haines Mill Museum, also known as Haines Mill, is a historic grist mill situated in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. This location is steeped in history and offers a unique glimpse into the past. The mill, built around 1840, is a four-story stone building with a slate-covered gambrel roof. It measures 42 feet by 46 feet 9 inches, and is divided into three bays by three bays.
The interior of the Haines Mill Museum was reconstructed after a fire in 1908. In 1930, a three-story brick addition was constructed, featuring a lean-to roof. A distinctive feature of the mill is the cupola that sits atop the main roof. These architectural elements add to the historical charm and uniqueness of the mill.
The Haines Mill Museum is operated through a partnership between Lehigh County, the owner and maintainer of the site, and the Lehigh County Historical Society, which provides public tours. This collaboration ensures the preservation of the mill's historical significance and allows visitors to explore and learn about its rich history.
