The German Vehicle Museum Fichtelberg is an automobile museum situated in the Upper Franconian town of Fichtelberg. The museum was established in 1992 as a private initiative by the Eckert family. It offers a unique insight into the history of automobiles and is a testament to the Eckert family's passion for vehicles.
The museum's collection, which consists of more than 500 exhibits, is spread across three floors in three exhibition halls and a covered outdoor area, spanning approximately 10,000 square meters. The exhibits represent all periods of automotive history, from 1896 to the present day, providing a comprehensive overview of the evolution of automobiles.
The exhibition at the German Vehicle Museum Fichtelberg is not limited to cars. It also includes motorcycles, airplanes, fire engines, tractors, and exotic cars. Among the exhibits, visitors can find a Bizzarrini GT 5300, rare pieces such as an early racing motorcycle from NSU Motorenwerke from 1910, a Boss Hoss from 2007, a Münch Mammut 2000, and various prototypes.
The German Vehicle Museum Fichtelberg is open from Monday to Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm. However, it's important to note that outside of holiday periods, the museum is closed on Mondays.
