The Geology Museum of the University of Oviedo is a specialized institution located in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain. Founded in 2001, the Geology Museum of the University of Oviedo has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. The museum is home to an impressive collection of approximately 32,000 pieces, offering a comprehensive insight into the field of geology and paleontology.
At its inception, the museum had an exhibition area of 140 m², showcasing 800 pieces across 27 thematic units. The layout was designed to be informative rather than systematic, with certain areas reserved for teaching purposes. Following the renovation, the exhibition now comprises 45 thematic units. The museum also features an outdoor garden where larger pieces are displayed.
