Fort Sidney is a historic fort situated in Sidney, Nebraska, United States. It was established by the 37th Infantry Regiment and has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. The fort was initially a block house on a bluff with soldiers residing in tents nearby. It was later moved and renamed Sidney Barracks, and in 1879, it was designated Fort Sidney.
The Fort Sidney Complex now serves as a museum, preserving the remaining fort buildings. The complex includes the married officer's quarters, which houses the Cheyenne County Museum, the Commander's Home, and a powder house. The Commander's Home has been restored and outfitted with late 19th-century period furnishings, providing a glimpse into the past.
