Fort Morris Historic Site is a state historic park located in Liberty County, Georgia, United States. This site is a significant part of the country's history, having played a crucial role in various conflicts from 1741 to 1865, including the French and Indian and American Revolutionary Wars and War of 1812. The park covers an area of 70 acres and sits at an elevation of 23 feet.
The Fort Morris Historic Site hosts three historic interpretive events throughout the year. These include a Labor Day celebration, which features tours led by guides in historical military uniforms and demonstrations of musket and cannon firings. In November, a re-enactment of Colonel McIntosh's 1778 stand takes place, complete with weapon firings and a skirmish. The site also celebrates a Colonial Christmas, complete with treats, music, and a bonfire reminiscent of the colonial era.
The Fort Morris Historic Site offers a range of facilities for visitors. These include a visitor's center that features a film and exhibits related to the site's history. The park also has a nature trail and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy. The Pioneer Campground is open to groups, providing a unique opportunity for overnight stays. A 1-mile nature trail offers visitors a chance to explore the local wildlife and plants.
