Fort Amherst in Chatham, England, offers visitors an engaging look into British military history. This well-preserved fortification, dating back to the 18th century, provides an informative experience for history enthusiasts and families alike. The fort's extensive network of tunnels is a highlight, allowing visitors to explore underground passages and gain insight into wartime conditions. The site also offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, including the River Medway.

Visitors appreciate the knowledgeable guides who bring the fort's history to life through informative tours. The museum sections contain interesting artifacts and displays that help illustrate the fort's significance in defending the Medway region. Special events, including reenactments and seasonal activities, add value to the experience.

However, some visitors note that certain areas of the fort can be challenging for those with mobility issues due to steep stairs and uneven terrain. Additionally, a few reviewers mention that some sections of the fort could benefit from improved signage or additional restoration work.
