The Foosaner Art Museum, previously known as the Brevard Art Museum, was situated in Melbourne, Florida. The museum was established in 1978 and was located along the Indian River in the Eau Gallie Arts District. Over the years, it amassed a collection of over 5,000 objects, spanning 20 centuries, which formed the Museum's Permanent Collection.
The Foosaner Art Museum's permanent collection was primarily composed of Modern and Contemporary Art. It included the Enrique Conill Mendoza Collection of American Industrial Design and the world's largest collection of works by Ernst Oppler, a German artist who lived between 1897 and 1929. These collections reflected not only the Museum's interests and specialties, but also the lives of the people who lived in the community.
Throughout the year, visitors to the Foosaner Art Museum could experience a changing selection of exhibitions. These exhibitions showcased contemporary trends and historical art movements. In addition to the exhibitions, the museum offered an extensive program of studio classes at the Renee Foosaner Education Center. Both children and adults had the opportunity to study and create art in this center.
