The Cavour Castle in Santena, once the home of the family of Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, is among the main castles of Piedmont. It is rich in historical memories, furnishings, archives, and a library. The castle's history and its preserved artifacts provide a glimpse into the past, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts.
Adjacent to the castle is a large garden, spanning 23 hectares. This garden was commissioned by Marquis Michele Benso di Cavour in the early 19th century and designed by Xavier Kurten. It is a typical English garden, featuring hills and curved paths that offer different perspective views of the park at every turn. This garden is a tranquil oasis that offers visitors a chance to enjoy nature and the outdoors.
The Cavour Memorial, a museum dedicated to the Piedmontese statesman, reopened on March 17, 2021, marking the 160th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. The museum had been closed for a significant period for restoration work. Now, visitors can once again explore the museum and learn about the life and contributions of this important figure in Italian history.
