Villa Folio, also known as Maison Folio, is a heritage-protected residence located in Hell-Bourg on Réunion. Despite being a residential home, it is designated as a museum and is open for public viewing. This unique feature adds a personal touch to the museum experience, offering visitors a glimpse into the life and history of the Folio family who still reside in the house.
While the house continues to be a residence, it is open for public viewing for a few hours each day. However, please note that some areas of the house are not accessible to visitors. This limitation ensures the privacy of the residents while still allowing tourists to appreciate the historical and architectural significance of the building.
The house is surrounded by a garden that reflects the everyday needs of the time it was built. The garden is described as Creole and features a variety of plants, including fruits like passionfruit, lemon, and mandarin, as well as flowers and herbs. This gives visitors an impression of the original garden layout and a glimpse into the lifestyle of the period.
