The Estonian Open Air Museum offers visitors a glimpse into Estonia's rural past. Located on a spacious forested area, it features a collection of restored historic buildings from different periods and regions of Estonia. Visitors can explore traditional farmhouses, windmills, a wooden church, and other structures that represent rural Estonian life from the 18th to the early 20th centuries.
The museum provides an interactive experience, with costumed staff demonstrating traditional crafts and activities. Many visitors appreciate the opportunity to see inside the historic buildings and learn about rural Estonian customs and daily life. The natural setting adds to the authentic atmosphere, allowing guests to feel as if they've stepped back in time.
While most visitors find the museum informative and enjoyable, some note that it requires a significant amount of walking to see all the exhibits, which may be challenging for those with mobility issues. Additionally, a few visitors mention that more English translations or guided tours in English would enhance the experience for international tourists.
The museum is generally well-maintained, but some reviewers point out that certain areas or buildings might benefit from additional restoration or upkeep. Despite these minor criticisms, the majority of visitors find the Estonian Open Air Museum to be an educational and worthwhile attraction that provides valuable insights into Estonia's cultural heritage.
