Elisabeth Orphanage Museum is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Culemborg: the Elisabeth Orphanage constructed in 1560. It was the first newly built orphanage in the Netherlands. Until 1952 this historic building provided shelter to more than six hundred orphans and half-orphans. In the museum visitor learns about the goings on in the orphanage and the lives of the children as well about the history of the city Culemborg.
