The Edwards–Franklin House is a historic plantation house located in Franklin Township, Surry County, North Carolina. This Southern United States property offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the architectural style and lifestyle of the late 18th century.
The Edwards–Franklin House was constructed in 1799 by Gideon Edwards. It later became the residence of congressional representative Meshack Franklin, who was the brother of Jesse Franklin, the governor of North Carolina from 1820 to 1821. This historical connection adds a layer of political significance to the property.
The Surry County Historical Society restored the Edwards–Franklin House in 1973. Since then, it has been open to the public, allowing visitors to explore the property and learn about its history.
