The Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura (CDMAC) is a cultural center situated in Fortaleza, Ceará. It is recognized as one of the largest cultural centers in Brazil, offering a vast array of artistic and cultural experiences.
Covering an area of 30,000 square meters, the CDMAC is dedicated to art and culture. It houses several attractions including the Museu da Cultura Cearense, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Ceará, Planetário Rubens de Azevedo, and Teatro Dragão do Mar, among others.
The name 'Dragão do Mar' is a tribute to the historical figure Chico da Matilde, a jangadeiro who became a symbol of the abolitionist movement in the state. In 1881, he refused to transport slaves to be sold in the south of the country.
