The Dr. Charles M. Wright House is a historic site located at 3 W. Jackson St. in Altamont, Illinois. This house holds a significant place in the history of the region, having been built in 1889 for Charles M. Wright I and his family. It stands as a testament to the architectural style of the time and the life of one of the only doctors in western Effingham County until his retirement in 1878.
The Dr. Charles M. Wright House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is one of only two sites in Effingham County that have this distinction, the other being the Effingham County Courthouse. This recognition underscores the historical importance of the house and its contribution to the cultural heritage of the region.
