Dover Castle, located in the town of Dover in the English county of Kent, is a medieval castle that was built in the 11th century. Known as the 'Key to England' due to its historical defensive importance, it is the largest castle in England. Along with Canterbury and Rochester Castle, it is one of the three original royal castles in Kent.
Today, Dover Castle is a popular tourist destination and has been used as a filming location for several film and television series. It is owned by English Heritage and is a major tourist attraction in the area. It also houses the museum for the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment.
In 2007 and 2009, English Heritage invested £2.45 million in restoring the interior of Dover Castle. This restoration work has helped to preserve the castle's historical authenticity, making it an even more attractive destination for tourists interested in history and architecture.
