The Collection at the Dornier Museum

Since its inception in 2005, the Dornier Museum has amassed a vast collection of Dornier aircraft, models, and other exhibits. The museum opened its doors to the public on July 24, 2009.

Exhibits at the Dornier Museum

The Dornier Museum offers an outdoor area where visitors can view several aircraft between the museum building and the airport runway. Inside the building, the hangar houses more large aircraft and numerous satellite models, providing a comprehensive view of aviation history and technology.

Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen Reviews

Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

The Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen offers an engaging experience for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Located near Lake Constance, this museum showcases the rich legacy of the Dornier aircraft company. Visitors can explore a diverse collection of aircraft, including both civilian and military models, which highlight the technological advancements in aviation over the decades.

The museum's exhibits are well-presented, with informative displays that provide context to the aircraft and the company's history. Many visitors appreciate the opportunity to see restored planes up close and even enter some of them. The attention to detail in the restorations is often praised.

While the museum excels in its aircraft displays, some visitors note that the information provided could be more comprehensive, especially for non-German speakers. The English translations, while available, are sometimes found to be limited compared to the German text.

The museum's layout is generally considered user-friendly, allowing for a chronological journey through Dornier's aviation history. However, a few visitors mention that navigation can be slightly confusing in some areas.

One of the highlights frequently mentioned is the panoramic view of the airport from the museum's observation deck, offering a chance to see modern aircraft in action.

On the downside, some visitors find the entry price a bit steep, especially for a relatively compact museum. Additionally, while most find the staff friendly, a few reviews mention inconsistent experiences with customer service.

Overall, the Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen provides a solid and educational experience for those interested in aviation history, with its strong focus on the Dornier company's contributions to the field. While it may not appeal as much to those without a specific interest in aircraft, it offers an insightful look into an important aspect of local and aviation history.
