The Diesel Museum is situated in the H.A.U. business park on Oberndorferstraße in Schramberg. This location is easily accessible and provides a unique setting for the museum, making it an interesting destination for tourists.
The Diesel Museum is housed in a building that was constructed in 1904 by the renowned industrial architect Philipp Jakob Manz. The building was designed in the Art Nouveau style and served as the power center of the Hamburg-American Clock Factory (H.A.U). In 1910/11, the building was expanded to accommodate a MAN diesel engine with a three-phase generator from Felten-Guilleaume-Lahmeyer. This historical context adds to the unique charm of the museum.
In addition to the Diesel Museum, a photo apparatus museum has also been established within the same building. This museum was set up in a photo studio that is part of the original building. This additional attraction provides a broader range of exhibits for tourists to explore, adding to the overall appeal of the museum.
